Posted September 07, 2018 07:02:30 A personalized planner that is free for all Canadians can save you time, money and health, according to a new study.
“If we can make sure that people can access it free of charge, that people have a clear understanding of how to use it, that they can get the information and the information to help their health and their well-beings, then we’ll see that there will be more and more people who will use it,” said Dr. Sarah B. O’Brien, who leads the study at the University of Toronto’s School of Public Health.
“And so it’s going to be the health and wellness resource that will be the go-to resource for people when they need to.”
O’Connor and her colleagues surveyed more than 700 people across the country and asked them to rate how well their personal health and wellbeing is affected by the different ways they access the planner.
“We found that it’s an extremely effective tool,” she said.
“People really want to get access to this information.”
In addition to the planner, people were asked to describe the ways they use it.
“You could put the planner on your desk, in your closet, in the cupboard under the bed or wherever,” said O’Connors co-author, Dr. Janice L. Stadler.
“But that’s about all you can do.
The researchers also wanted to see how much of a benefit it had on the health of people who didn’t have access to a planner. “
It’s the tool that allows you to do a lot of the things you would like to do, but you can’t because it’s a lot to manage.”

The study found that people who had access to the plan did a much better job of maintaining their health than those who had not.
“When you look at the different types of access, it is actually pretty similar to the people who do not have access,” said Stadlers co-researcher, Dr, Marla K. Lefebvre.
“The people who are able to get it, if they don’t have a plan, the person with the planner can go and get the plan, but then it’s still a very important tool in their daily life.”
In terms of the quality of the information people were getting, the planner was the most helpful, according the study.
In addition, it had the highest quality ratings for health and the quality that people experienced in the short term.
O-Brien said the most important thing about the study is the participants.
“There were so many different ways people could have access and they just couldn’t all have the same access, and that’s what makes it so valuable,” she explained.
“A lot of people are not getting this information, so if you’re looking at access to it, it would be really valuable to know how it is.”
Dr. O’don said there’s no doubt that the planner is a valuable tool.
“I mean, it provides information that allows for a lot more people to get the answers they need.
But it also creates a lot for people to be more conscious about their health.”
The study was published online in the American Journal of Public Safety Health Psychology and was funded by the Health Research Council of Canada.
